The AI Tinkerers Denver-Boulder group is set to host its first Multimodal Innovation Hackathon, bringing together AI developers and enthusiasts for a weekend of collaboration and innovation. The event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 3-4, will take place at Code Talent’s offices in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood. Not to be missed, however, are the festivities taking place on Friday night, August 2, with a Hackathon Eve social event at BrewDog Denver.

The What: Hacking & Collaborating

To celebrate the Denver area’s growing recognition as a hub for AI talent and innovation, the AI Tinkerers Denver-Boulder group is leveraging this momentum to host this inaugural Denver AI hackathon that promises to be a true nexus of collaborative energy and cutting-edge technology.

Daniel Ritchie, founder of one of the event’s sponsors, Brain Wave Collective, said, “The hackathon is just a week away and we will create space for everyone who wants to sign up. I’d encourage any and all to attend, regardless of background, experience, or skill. I’d especially like to welcome those who’ve never participated in something like this before.”

The Who: Participants & Business Partners

AI enthusiasts of all stripes are welcome, including developers, data scientists, and other innovators. Key partners include Twelve Labs, Groq, and Focused Labs, with additional backing from Brain Wave Collective, Freeplay, and Boulder AI Builders.

The Why: Innovate, Network, Learn & Win

The hackathon is designed to provide a multifaceted experience for all developers, including the chance to work with the latest AI technologies, connect with like-minded individuals and industry leaders, gain insights from workshops and hands-on experience, and compete for prizes.

The Venue: Code Talent

Code Talent, an established supporter of the AI Tinkerers Denver-Boulder group, is providing the venue for the hackathon at 3412 Blake St. A talent acquisition firm known for its community involvement, Code Talent has opened its doors for participants to work through Saturday night if they choose. The location also offers convenient access to local breweries, coffee houses, and eateries, creating a vibrant environment for both work and relaxation.

The Pre-Event Prep: Brain Wave Collective

On July 30, the Tuesday before the hackathon starts, Brain Wave Collective will host a technical prep session to help participants familiarize themselves with the tools offered by Groq and Twelve Labs.

This pre-event is strongly recommended by BWC’s Daniel Ritchie, who said, “This will be an uncommon opportunity to meet visiting sponsors who represent some of the industry’s most exciting new technologies. Groq offers unbelievably fast inference, and Twelve Labs is unparalleled for multimodal understanding.”

The Full Schedule: Don't Miss Friday Night

The hackathon will kick off with a social event at BrewDog Denver at 3950 Wynkoop from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, August 2. The hackathon officially starts on Saturday, August 3, at 9:30 am at Code Talent, and it wraps up on Sunday, August 4 at 3:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to RSVP now to secure their spot in what promises to be an exciting event at the forefront of multimodal AI applications.

Ritchie discussed how the event is a real celebration of Colorado's collaborative community, and that it will showcase the Front Range's incredible talent. “We can expect technologists, data scientists, AI researchers, ML engineers, and other non-technical participants. Some attendees will come for prizes, others will come to learn or to gain recognition, but for everyone it's going to be fun weekend. I’m honored to be judging and can't wait to see what everyone creates!”
