Tom Yeh, a professor in CU-Boulder’s Department of Computer Science, is presenting a free “public lecture” via Zoom on Tuesday, January 28th about the new, headline-grabbing AI tool known as DeepSeek.
Yeh’s focus will not be on what the tool can do, which has been the subject of much of the discussion around DeepSeek, but on exactly how it works. As such, it will be a technical presentation taking attendees inside the "black box." As Yeh describes it in the FAQs for the presentation, it was originally meant for his students in his computer vision course, but that it's "now for anyone with similar technical background and interest.”
Over the past year, Yeh has attracted a great amount of attention (and nearly 65,000 LinkedIn followers) for his original and trailblazing tutorials on what he calls “AI by Hand.” These are also available on his Substack. His popular YouTube channel tackles topics such beginner’s guides to RAG, RAG agents, and vector databases.
As this goes to press on Monday, there are already more than 5,000 registrants for the Zoom presentation, scheduled for 11:00 am MT on Tuesday. It's recommended that anyone interested sign up here as soon as possible.
