On Monday December 9th, the Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group (RMAIIG) held its final large meeting of the year, this one focused on the theme of “AI for Good.” Despite the falling snow, RMAIIG had a packed house with 150 attendees, all of whom were in the mood for some good news.
First up were Anne Wintemute and Steven Nichols, co-founders of AimeeSays, a Denver-based startup that has developed an AI-driven app providing support for domestic abuse victims. Anne and Steven were interviewed earlier this fall in Colorado AI News as Aimee Says was named a "Colorado AI Startup to Watch."
The next speakers were Matthew Hron and Matthew Morrissette from Wildlife Protection Solutions. Based in Golden, WPS is a nonprofit that’s working in Africa, Indonesia, and elsewhere throughout the world to help save endangered species through real-time monitoring and AI-enhanced surveillance in reviewing millions of images.
The third "AI for Good" presentation was given by Adrian Chernoff, the founder of Boulder-based Ojje. The learning platform offers a groundbreaking, AI-enabled literacy tool that can not only help children learn to read, but also can help advanced readers continue to improve their reading, comprehension, and analytical skills.
For those who missed the event, video of the first two "AI for Good" presentations is now posted on RMAIIG's YouTube channel. The third presentation, featuring Adrian Chernoff, will be posted there soon.
